Tuna Tartar

Tuna tartare is a sophisticated and flavor-packed starter, perfect for impressing on special occasions.
This dish is made from premium raw tuna, finely cut and enhanced with ingredients that enhance the taste, such as avocado, lime, and fresh herbs. Perfect for an elegant dinner or as a starter in a gourmet meal, tuna tartare is also a healthy choice, rich in omega-3 and protein.
This dish is ideally enjoyed with crispy toast or vegetable chips for a contrast of textures.

Equipment

  • 2 bowls
  • 2 food rings or ramekins

Ingredients
  

Tuna layer

  • 2 tuna steaks * (fresh, sashimi-quality tuna )
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp ginger (ground or fresh chopped ginger)
  • 2 tbsp lime
  • 5 tbsp cilantro (fresh)
  • 1 tbsp toasted black or white sesame seed or mix of both
  • salt and pepper

Avocado layer

  • 2 avocados
  • 2 tbsp lime
  • salt and pepper
  • ¼ tbsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 mango (optional -chopped)

Instructions
 

Tuna layer

  • In a bowl, combine the sesame oil and soy sauce, chopped ginger, lime juice and chopped cilantro and then toasted sesame seeds.
  • Cut the tuna into small cubes and add to the bowl.
  • Season with salt and pepper and stir. Set aside in the refrigerator.

Avocado layer

  • Put the flesh of the avocados in a bowl and mash it. Add the lime and if you want a spicy touch, add some red pepper flakes. Add salt and pepper and mix.

Mango layer (optional)

  • Peel and chop a mango.

Making the plate

  • With a food ring : Arrange a layer of avocado halfway up (optional: add the mango layer) and a layer of tuna on top. Unmold and serve with a little microgreens.
  • With a ramekin: Arrange a layer of tuna first, (optional: then a layer of mango), then avocado. Flip the ramekin onto the plate and gently unmold and serve with a little microgreens.

Notes

* It is crucial to choose fresh, sashimi-quality tuna to ensure not only taste but also food safety.
Suggestion: serve with black caviar and mini toasts.
