  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 whisk


  • ¬ľ cup tahini
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
  • salt and pepper
  • water (as needed to reach desired consistency)


  • In a bowl, whisk together tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, and maple syrup (if using).
  • Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  • If the dressing is too thick, thin it out by gradually adding water until you reach the desired consistency.
  • Taste and adjust the flavors as needed.


Storage : tahini sauce keeps well in the refrigerator, covered, for about 1 week.  Tahini sauce can naturally separate over time, with oil rising to the top. Before using it, give the sauce a good stir to recombine the ingredients and achieve a consistent texture. Add some water if necessary.  The tahini sauce can also be frozen for up to 1 month.
Herbed option: whisk ¬ľ cup chopped fresh herbs into the tahini sauce (parsley, basil, dill, cilantro. ).
