Ingredients
  

  • 4 lbs sweet potatoes (2 kg)
  • ½ cup heavy cream (125 ml - or milk)
  • ¼ cup butter (15 g)
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (grounded)
  • salt and pepper

Instructions
 

  • Prep the sweet potatoes : Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into chunks of roughly equal size. This ensures even cooking.
  • Boil the sweet potatoes : Place the sweet potato chunks in a large pot and cover them with water. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to simmer. Cook until the sweet potatoes are fork-tender, approximately 15-20 minutes.
  • Drain and mash : Once the sweet potatoes are cooked, drain them and transfer them back to the cooking pot. Use a potato masher or a fork to mash the sweet potatoes until smooth.
  • Add the other ingredients : Add the softened butter, milk or cream, ground nutmeg, and a pinch of salt and pepper to the mashed sweet potatoes.
  • Mash and mix everything together until the ingredients are well combined and the sweet potatoes reach your desired consistency. For creamier potatoes, add a bit more milk or cream.
  • Adjust seasoning : Taste the mashed sweet potatoes and adjust the seasoning to your liking. Add more salt, maple syrup, or spices if needed.
