  • 4 lbs sweet potatoes
  • ½ cup heavy cream or milk
  • ¼ cup butter (15 g)
  • ¼ tsp grounded nutmeg
  • salt and pepper


Prep the Sweet Potatoes:

  • Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into chunks of roughly equal size. This ensures even cooking.

Boil the sweet potatoes:

  • Place the sweet potato chunks in a large pot and cover them with water. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to simmer. Cook until the sweet potatoes are fork-tender, approximately 15-20 minutes.

Drain and mash:

  • Once the sweet potatoes are cooked, drain them and transfer them back to the cooking pot. Use a potato masher or a fork to mash the sweet potatoes until smooth.

Add the goodness:

  • Add the softened butter, milk or cream, ground nutmeg, and a pinch of salt and pepper to the mashed sweet potatoes.
