For the burger patties

  • 1 lb ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat) (about 450g)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • salt and pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns (or homemade buns)


  • Prepare the Burger Patties: in a bowl, gently mix the ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties.
  • Cook the Patties: heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the burger patties for about 3-4 minutes per side for medium doneness or until your desired level of doneness is achieved. In the last minute of cooking, add a slice of cheese to each patty and let it melt.
  • Toast the Buns: while the patties are cooking, lightly toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster.
  • Assemble the Cheeseburgers: place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun. Add the cooked burger patty with melted cheese on top. Layer with tomato slices, red onion, pickles, and any additional toppings of your choice.
  • Condiments: spread ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise on the top half of the buns. Place them on top of the assembled burgers.
