  • 4 ripe tomatoes (diced)
  • 4 tbsp basil (fresh, finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • salt and pepper
  • baguette or rustic Italian bread (sliced)
  • balsamic glaze (optional, for drizzling)

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, combine diced tomatoes, chopped fresh basil, minced garlic, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper. Mix gently to allow the flavors to meld. Let the mixture sit for at least 15 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven broiler or grill.
  • Slice the baguette or Italian bread into 1/2-inch thick slices.
  • Place the bread slices on a baking sheet or grill pan. Toast under the broiler or on the grill for 1-2 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and have a slight crispness.
  • Once the bread is toasted, spoon the tomato mixture generously over each slice.
  • Optional: Drizzle with balsamic glaze for an extra burst of flavor.
