  • 1 9 inch round cake pan
  • 1 small saucepan
  • 1 mixing bowl


  • 2 eggs
  • 8 tbsp sugar
  • 10 tbsp all purpose flour
  • 6 tbsp milk or plant-based milk
  • tsp baking powder
  • 5 apples
  • 4 tbsp neutral oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract


  • Preheat the oven to 356° F (180°C).
  • Whisk egg and sugar for about 3 minutes.
  • Add flour, baking powder, oil, milk and vanilla.
  • Peel the apple. Cut them in large slices.
  • Pour the batter into a buttered baking pan (9 inch), arrange the apples on top and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Melt the butter in a small saucepan. Remove from the heat, add the sugar and the egg.
  • Pour over the apples after 25 minutes of cooking and cook for another 15 minutes.
  • Place the cake on a rack out of the oven.


Serve warm or cold with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
